Notice of Available Funding
Waccamaw HOME Consortium Announces Approximately $750,000*
Available
to Subsidize Affordable Housing in Georgetown Horry, and Williamsburg Counties
The Consortium is seeking applications from non-profits, for-profits, local governments and Certified Housing Development Organizations (CHDOs). Funds may be used for acquisition and/or rehabilitation of homebuyer housing or vacant rental housing; new construction of rental or homebuyer housing, and direct financial assistance to buyers of HOME-assisted units.
Full Applications and Guidelines for projects are available at the links below, and are due by 5 p.m., Tues., March 9, 2010. Applications received after the due date will be unable to compete for these funds. Applications will be reviewed for eligibility and approved or rejected by the Technical Review Committee at requested or reduced funding.
Grants and low interest loans will be available for eligible projects. Matching funds, at a minimum of 25 percent of Consortium funding, from non-federal sources, will be required for each funded project.
| Approximate Consortium HOME Funding Available is $750,000. A minimum of 15% of the 2010 allocation is set-aside for CHDO projects. This amount will be approximately $150,000*.

The Waccamaw HOME Consortium (Consortium) received approximately $1,165.843 of federal HOME Investment Partnerships Program (HOME) funds during fiscal year 2009-2010 for affordable housing activities. The proposed amendment to the one-year action plan to use these funds is listed below:

Provides funding for the new construction or rehabilitation of rental, owner-occupied, innovative homeownership and special needs housing, primarily for low- and moderate-income households primarily consisting of five or more housing units. Preserve and expand the area's affordable housing stock by providing grants, deferred loans and/or low-interest loans to low- and moderate-income households to purchase or rehabilitate their homes. Financial assistance may be used for property rehabilitation or replacement, gap financing, closing costs, down-payment and/or housing counseling. |
