Waccamaw Regional Council of Governments (WRCOG) is seeking a Planner to support the Transportation and Local Planning Programs of WRCOG. This position will assist with local planning and transportation projects throughout the region and provide support to all of the department’s programs by developing plans and reports (growth management, land use, economic development, transportation, water quality, air quality, or other plans), collecting and analyzing data, and writing and administering proposals and grant applications. The position will also provide professional planning assistance to local governments on varied planning projects and serve as contracted planning staff for local governments in the region, as needed, providing assistance to planning commissions, boards and citizen advisory groups in the preparation and implementation of plans and programs, and draft comprehensive plans, zoning regulations, ordinances/codes, hazard mitigation plans and other planning studies. The selected candidate will be required to interpret and apply applicable federal, state, county and local codes, ordinances and regulations. GIS experience is a plus.
TRANSPORTATION PLANNER FOR MULTI-STATE MPO
Waccamaw Regional Council of Governments (WRCOG) is seeking a Transportation Planner to support its bi-state MPO, Grand Strand Area Regional Transportation Study (GSATS) serving the Myrtle Beach MSA. This position will plan, report and manage MPO projects and contracts in North Carolina and South Carolina and implement activities and initiatives as the designated recipient of Federal Transit Administration funds, as needed. This position will also collect and analyze transportation, land use and population data, and utilize this information to develop planning documents and studies. The selected candidate will be required to interpret and apply applicable federal, state, county and local codes, ordinances and regulations.
